Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Personal Work | Marker on Paper | Process Video below "Women are not special. They are human. Just as Human as men. The danger of thinking women are inherently more virtuous is that it upholds women to a higher, more unfair standard" I recently saw Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie give a brilliant speech about identity & the importance of storytelling. This segment stood out to me because it really struck how much of feminism is wanting to be treated the same way and afforded the same privileges as men: When it’s all stripped down, Women just want to be human beings, and not live in constant awareness that our actions carry more consequences. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ We aren’t special or inherently better, it’s ridiculous to act otherwise.
